AASPA Annual Conference Set for October 12-15

The American Association of School Personnel Administrators (AASPA)  is holding its 72nd annual conference in Myrtle Beach, SC  on October 12- 15, 2010, where approximately 300 public school administrators from across the United States and from international locations, including Canada and Singapore will attend.   The conference will be held at the Sheraton Hotel and Convention Center, located at 2101 North Oak Street, Myrtle Beach, SC  (843-918-5000). Hosted by the Personnel division of the South Carolina Association of School Administrators (SCASA), the conference will afford attendees the opportunity to actively explore best practices and  pertinent and critical topics facing HR professionals today, including staffing in tough economic times, recruitment and retention of highly qualified staff, and leadership development. 

 
Half-day  and whole-day pre-conference sessions will be held on Tuesday, October 12th.  Topics include managing the technology tidal wave, hot HR issues, national credentialing programs, generations at work, pay for performance, and HR’s Role in Student Achievement. General session presenters include Mr. Stephen Peters, motivational speaker and author of
Do You Know Enough About Me to Teach Me? and Teaching to  Capture and Inspire All Learners, who will present “Teamwork and Empowerment through Change.”  In addition is Mr. Mike Rutherford, noted author and specialist in adult learning and leadership development, who will present “Creating School and District Cultures that Attract Talent and Repel Non- Talent.”  Dr. Anne Matthews, educational consultant and motivational speaker, will present “Seven Ls for Success.”  Over 60 clinics will also be held where attendees will learn practical information that will enhance their performance and will build capacity for districts to reach all students.
