Applications Being Taken for ATAX Grants

     Applications for the 2010-2011 Anderson County Accommodation (ATAX) Grant funds are now available. Eligible organizations may pick up the application at the Anderson County Parks, Recreation & Tourism Office located in room 11 of the historic courthouse, 101 South Main Street. Deadline for submission is 4 pm on August 27, 2010.

     ATAX Grants are provided through revenue received by the County for its share of the 2% lodging tax levied by the State of South Carolina. An Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee, mandated by the State and composed of seven representatives of the hospitality industry, reviews applications for funding and makes recommendations to Anderson County Council for the awarding of these funds. By law these monies may only be used for activities related to travel and tourism.

     Eligible organizations are any government agency; board; commission; or pubic subdivision not specifically designated as a state agency and any non-profit or organization exempt from federal taxes. All applications must provide a federal identification number.
