Matrix Construction Co. has been awarded a contract to perform grading and paving work on the S.C. Highway 81 site of the future North Pointe Elementary School.
The Board of Trustees of Anderson School District Five approved Matrix’s low bid of $2,539,135 for the project. A total of 10 companies submitted bids.
Most of the grading and paving work in the contract will be completed by the end of 2010. A contract for the actual construction of the school has not yet been awarded. District officials said the work was separated into two bids to allow most of the grading and paving work to be done before winter, when bad weather would make this work more difficult.
The school is scheduled to be completed by the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year. It will be the 11th elementary school in the district.
