Moore Named to ACOG Board

Anderson County Council vice-chair Eddie Moore was recently appointed to the Appalachian Council of Governments (ACOG) Board. ACOG, a voluntary organization of local governments in Anderson, Cherokee, Greenville, Oconee, Pickens and Spartanburg Counties in Upstate South Carolina, was created in 1965 to serve as a resource in the areas of public administration, planning, information systems and technology, grants, workforce development and services to the elderly population.

A 44-Member Board of Directors sets policy for the ACOG. Two-thirds of these members are local elected officials, including state legislators, county council members, and mayors or city council members. County councils appoint the remaining citizen and minority members, some of whom may also be elected officials.

“We certainly appreciate the support of Anderson County and the strong working relationship we have had over the years,” said ACOG President Steve Pelissier. “SC’s COGs, specifically ACOG, remains first and foremost a partnership of local governments and the people we serve. While we realize that it is an extensive time commitment for those who have so much on their plate, especially elected officials, their participation and service are vital to making sure we are doing our best to efficiently and effectively serve Anderson County and our entire region.”

“It is truly an honor to serve Anderson County in this capacity,” said Anderson County Council Vice-Chair Eddie Moore. “I look forward to working with such a distinguished group of individuals with an unswerving commitment to improve the overall health and vibrancy of our region.”
