On Tuesday, residents from the Double Springs Community gathered for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate improvements to Double Springs Community Park. Recent improvements include a tree house, spring riders and a protective net to contain the ball field and prevent foul balls from entering the children’s play area. 

These improvements were made possible by a PARD (Parks and Recreation Development Fund) Grant, secured due to the efforts of SC Representative Don Bowen, District 8, with matching funds provided by Anderson County Councilman Tom Allen from District 4.

“I am proud to have been a part of this project,” said Representative Bowen. “Double Springs Community Park is in my district and it is good to see these improvements for the good of this community. The Double Springs Community Association is to be commended for their efforts to make this park what it is today – one of the best kept parks in Anderson County.”

“It is always exciting to see county and state government work together with local communities on projects that benefit residents,” said Councilman Tom Allen. “This community does an excellent job of maintaining this park and keeping it clean and available to be used by everyone. The wonderful turnout of residents this evening is evidence that we made an excellent investment in this community by partnering to make these improvements a reality. I want to especially thank Steve Hartsell, president of the Double Springs Community Association, for his hard work and dedication to this community.”
