CINDY MULNEIX

ANDERSON - Cynthia Lee Makison Mulneix, 62, of 1123 Hurricane Circle, widow of Darrel L. Mulneix, died Friday, June 15, 2012 at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born July 6, 1949 in Anderson, she was the daughter of Harold and Eleanor Armina Lee Makison of Anderson. She was a paralegal with John O'Rourke, Attorney at Law. She attended New Spring Church.

Survivors include her parents of Anderson; two sons, John Lee Cleveland and Kevin Bruce Clamp of the home; granddaughter, Taylor Ann Cleveland of Gainesville, GA; two sisters, Ann Thomas and husband, Rodney of Lancaster and Carla Whiten and husband, Charles of Anderson; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel, conducted by Rodney Thomas. The family will receive friends at the mortuary, 3205 North Highway 81, Anderson, following the service. The family is at the home of her parents, 121 Hurricane Road, Anderson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.

CATHERINE MCALISTER TAYLOR

OCTOBER 12, 1925  – JUNE 8, 2012

Catherine McAlister Taylor, age 86, of Anderson, wife of the late Carl Taylor, passed away Friday, June 8, 2012 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Anderson, SC she was the daughter of the late Paul Tilman McAlister and the late Eva Black McAlister.  She retired from Singer Plant after working 25 years in production.  Mrs. Taylor was a charter member of the Grace Memorial Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children; Hoyt C. Taylor and his wife Sandi, Sandra King and her husband Lee, all of Anderson, SC., grandchildren; Russell Taylor and his wife Sharon, Jennifer Barish and her husband Rich, Chad Taylor and his wife Alejandra, Jason King and his wife Tenille, great-grandchildren and the apples of her eyes; Zachary Taylor, Anderson Barish, Coleman Barish, Sara King, Hayden Taylor, Liam Taylor and Brooklyn Patterson; one brother, Charles McAlister, sisters; Eunice Aiken and Betty McLees.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister and six brothers.

The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Salem Baptist Church, with the Reverend Mark Dickson, Reverend Philip McAlister and Dr. Charles Holland officiating.  Mrs. Taylor will be placed in the church at 1:00 pm.  The family will receive friends following the service.

Flowers are optional, memorials may be made to Grace Memorial Baptist Church, 3518 Whitehall Road, Anderson, SC 29625 or Salem Baptist Church, 1035 Salem Church Road, Anderson, SC 29625.

Michael Dryman

TOWNVILLE- James Michael Dryman, 50, of 1008 White Pine Lane, died Wednesday June 6, 2012 at his residence.

Born April 14, 1962 in Waukegan, Illinois, he was the son of Eddie and Rose Burleson Breazeale. He was a lineman for ReWa and was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Janet Dryman of the home, children, Stephanie Smith, of North Carolina, Jessica Stringer, Louis Carver, Jr, and Glenn Carver all of Anderson, four grandchildren, parents, Eddie and Rose Breazeale of Easley, sisters, Sonia Stewart of Anderson, Gabby Breazeale of Easley and brother, Shannon Dryman of Illinois.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM Saturday at Oakdale Baptist Church with Revs. David Blizzard and Tim Marcengill officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 PM prior to the service at the church.

EDITH PAULINE BARIOU

ANDERSON - Edith Pauline Bariou died April 11, 2012 in Anderson, SC.

Born June 9, 1923 in Paterson, NJ, she was a former resident and employee of Kearny, NJ before retiring to Florida. She had recently moved to Anderson to be near family. Mrs. Bariou was a graduate of the Paterson General Hospital nursing program and worked as a Registered Nurse until retiring in 1984.

She is survived by her son, Fred Bariou and his wife, Linda of Anderson; grandson, Craig Bariou and his wife, Kathryn and two great granddaughters, Laura and Jenna Bariou, also of Anderson.

A memorial service will be held this Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Dickson Memorial United Methodist Church, Highway 24, Townville, SC.

ANDERSON - Barbara Ellis Coile Campbell, 74, died Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at her home.

Born November 17, 1934 in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Lillian Craft Coile.

Survivors include her husband, Jack Campbell; son, David R. Campbell and his wife, Cynthia of Piedmont; grandson, Michael D. Campbell; and two brothers, Ray Wrenn of Greenwood and Johnny Coile of Hartwell, GA.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at New Silver Brook Cemetery.

December 3, 1958 – June 1, 2012

Cathy Charlene Ayers Long, age 53, of 2701 Ranchwood Drive, Anderson, passed away on Friday, June 1, 2012 at AnMed Health Medical Center.  Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of Doris R. Williams Ayers and the late Charles Ayers.  

Cathy was a graduate of Pendleton High School and worked as a nurse’s aide at NHC Healthcare of Anderson.   She devoted her life to her family as a loving wife, daughter and mother.
 
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her beloved husband, Timothy H. Long of the residence; a daughter, Stephanie Epps and her husband Mac; step-sons, Shawne Allen and Timmy Long; and brothers, Michael Terry Ayers and his wife Nancy and Charles Terry Ayers and his finance’ Diane Santangelo.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2012, at 2 PM in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Charles Holland officiating.  Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.  

The family will be at the residence, and will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, June 6, from 6 PM until 8 PM.

BETTY B.  SANDERS

OCTOBER 1, 1932 - MAY 26, 2012

ANDERSON, SC – Betty Branyon Sanders, age 79, wife of the late Roy Douglas Sanders passed away on Saturday May 26, 2012 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Townville, SC she was the daughter of late John Thomas Branyon and Mary Etta Little Branyon.  She was the owner of Hair Performance where she was a hairdresser for over 30 years.
She was a member of Centerville Baptist Church.


Survivors include her daughter, Chasity Lynn Powell of Anderson, two grandchildren: Mary Elizabeth Sanders, Grayson Grantt Powell, sisters; Barbara Ownbey and Mary Bradberry both of Anderson, she is survived by several nieces and nephews, and a special niece Dawn Barksdale.

In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded by her brother; John T. Branyon Jr., one sister; Bernice Barnett, son-in-law, Jerry Wayne Powell.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 11:30 am    in the chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Steve Silvey officiating. Interment will follow in the M.J. Dolly Cooper Veteran Cemetery.

The family will be at the home of her sister, Barbara Ownbey, 223 Manley Drive, Anderson, SC 29626 and will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 before the service.

DOROTHY S. RAINEY

1923- 2012

ANDERSON, SC – Dorothy (Dot) Spears Rainey of Starr, wife of J. Hampton Rainey died May 26, 2012.

Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Hoyt S. Spears and Cleo Heard Spears.  She was a retired Banker after 30 years of service.  She was former Assistant Vice President of First National Bank of South Carolina, member of American Institutional of Banking and National Association of Bank Women.  She was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, Marshall Fant Sunday School Class, St. John’s United Methodist Women where she served as past Treasurer and on executive committee.  She was a former member of St. John’s Chancel Choir. She was a member of St. John’s Happy Group, Anderson County Women’s Club, serving as past Assistant Treasurer, Board of Directors, and Board of Trustees.  She was a member of Twinkle City Seniors of Starr.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, J. Hampton Rainey, son Michael Rainey of Starr, grandchildren: Jon-Michael Rainey, Sr., Brandon Rainey, Joshua Rainey, and Courtney Rainey Gibson, eight great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Marian Qualls Spears.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brother, Glen Samuel Spears, and a sister Mildred Speares Dorr, and a great grandchild, Hayden Matthew Rainey.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday May 28, 2012 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Dan Batson and Reverend Benny Spears officiating.   A private family burial will be held at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Monday May 28, 2012 from 2:00pm until 3:00 pm
before the service.

MRS. MIRIAM B. GRUBBS

June 16, 1914 – May 19, 2012

Mrs. Miriam Black Grubbs, age 97, of Anderson, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at NHC Healthcare of Anderson. She was born in Banning, CA, the daughter of the late Curtiss Wesley Black and the late Maude Comfort Blanchard Black. In 1932 she was married to Max Wilton Grubbs, who became a respected professor and tennis coach at Anderson University.  They were married for 45 years until his untimely death on May 12, 1977.  In 1937 Miriam and Max moved from Banning, CA to Belton, SC.

Mrs. Grubbs was a member of Anderson First Baptist Church where she was an active member and sang in the church choir.  She served as a past president of the Belton Music Club and the Belton Garden Club.  Miriam was also active in the Anderson Garden Club and in the activities of Anderson University.  

Survivors include two daughters, Victoria “Vicki” Grubbs Cox, and her husband, Walter T. Cox, III, of Punta Gorda, FL, and Caroline Grubbs Singleton and her husband C. Philip Singleton of Anderson.  Also left to carry on her legacy are 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Mrs. Miriam Grubbs will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel on Saturday, May 26, 2012, at 11 AM with Rev. Dr. Jack Couch officiating.  The family will gather with friends following the service at Forest Lawn.  

The family suggests that contributions in memory of Mrs. Grubbs be made to the Anderson University Tennis Scholarship Fund, 316 Boulevard, Anderson, SC 29621 or First Baptist Church of Anderson, 307 S. Manning Street, Anderson, SC 29624.

HENRY DUTTON

April 30, 1918 – May 16, 2012

ANDERSON, SC - Henry Herbert Dutton, age 94, died Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at the Reliable Health and Rehab Center in Atlanta, GA.

Born in Elberton, GA on April 30, 1918, Mr. Dutton was the son of the late Garrison Dutton and Gussie McCall Dutton.  He was a United States Army World War II veteran receiving a Purple Heart.  He was a skilled carpenter and was of the Christian Faith.

He is survived by sons, Raymond Dutton and his wife Kim of Duluth, GA and Andy Dutton and his wife Myong of Seoul, Korea; daughter, Elaine McMaster and her husband Frank of Rancho Cucamonga, CA and her daughter, Renee Damerow; sister, Garrissee Gault of Anderson; brother, Maxie Dutton of Anderson; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Mary Eunice Vickery Dutton.
 
The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at11:00 AM in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Dr. Jack Couch.  Interment will follow in Iva City Cemetery with military honors.

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, May 21, 2012 from 7 PM until 9 PM.
