ANDERSON – Mary Ann Kalafut Sergeant, 85, of Anderson, widow of Paul J. Kalafut, died Friday, June 4, 2010 at NHC of Anderson. 
Surviving are her two daughters, Paulette E. O’Brien and Cathy A. Kalafut both of Anderson. 
A graveside service will be held at 11am Tuesday at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10 until 10:30am at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel, 3205 Hwy 81 N.

MISS ST. CLAIR SHARP

February 2, 1941 – June 4, 2010
 
WILLIAMSTON, SC - Miss St. Clair Arabelle Sharp, age 69 of 9 Middleton Blvd., died Friday, June 04, 2010 at the Rainey Hospice House.
 
Born in Sandy Springs, SC, she was a daughter of the late Winfield K. Sharp, III and Vivian Hopkins Sharp. She attended Old Denver School and was a participant at the Tribble Center in Oconee County.  After living in Oconee County for several years, she came to Anderson where she was a participant in the residential disabilities program and later moved to the Williamston CTH House.  She was a member of Mount Zion Presbyterian Church.
 
Survivors include her sister, Hopkins GayLord and brother, Winfield K. Sharp, IV and his wife, Athleen, all of Sandy Springs.  Also surviving are nieces, Vivian GayLord; nephews, Todd Sharp and his wife, Danette and Daniel Sharp and his wife, Christine, Gibson GayLord and his wife, Wendy, Andrew GayLord and his wife, Christie and Henry GayLord.
 
The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Mount Zion Presbyterian Church officiated by the Reverend Susan Smith.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to Mount Zion Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 429, Sandy Springs, SC 29677-0429.

CLIFF KING

ANDERSON – Norman Clifton King, Jr., 49, of 2210 Bellview Road, died Thursday, June 3, 2010 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born May 3, 1961 in Anderson, he was the son of the late Norman Clifton and Savannah “Sue” Hilliard King. He attended Oakwood Christian School.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Old Silver Brook Cemetery conducted by Rev. Lawrence Webb.

ANDERSON, SC - Hazel Jane Strickland Burnette, age 68, wife of Richard Burnette, of 602 Cheyenne Street, died Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at her residence.
 
Born in Anderson, SC on August 9, 1941, Mrs. Burnette was a daughter of the late Hoyt Strickland and Lucy Smith Strickland.  She attended Gap Hill Baptist Church, Six Mile, SC.  She was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
 
Survivors include her husband of 41 years of the home; sons, Joe Rodney Stewart of Anderson, SC and Richard C. Burnette, Jr., of Fort Hood, TX; daughter, Cathy Burnette Chamblee of Anderson, SC; brother, Larry Strickland of Anderson, SC; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
 
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Herman Strickland; a sister, Irene Burroughs and a grandson, Richard Matthew Cheek.
 
The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 3:30 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Dr. Boyce Whitman.  Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. 
 
The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at funeral home on Friday, from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm.

MAY 22, 1929 – JUNE 3, 2010
 
BELTON, SC – Manada Nathalee Reeves, age 81, wife of the late Charles Milton Reeves, passed away on June 3, 2010.
 
Born in Belton on May 22, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Eugene Stokes Hotlzclaw and Ola Cheek Holtzclaw.  Mrs. Reeves retired from BASF and was a member of the Belton Church of God.
 
Survivors include her son, Stan Reeves of Belton; a granddaughter, April Rhodes of Williamston; two sisters: Louise H. Rowland & Joyce H. Hughes, both of Belton; and one brother, Bill Holtzclaw of Belton.
 
She was predeceased by her parents and husband; a son, Tony Reeves; and two brothers, Manuel & Marshall Holtzclaw.
 
A Graveside Service will be held at 2pm on Friday, June 4, 2010, at the Garden of Memories with the Reverend Michael Hanley and Dr. Ron Culbertson. The family will receive friends  following the service.

DEWEY C. COLLIER

ANDERSON – Dewey Clinton Collier, 81, of 2005 Linda Drive, husband of Alice Erskine Collier, died Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.
Born June 19, 1928 in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Willie T. and Mary Bell Brown Collier. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Collier was a retired Transportation Officer with Perry Correctional Institution. He was a member of West Anderson Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, Alice E. Collier of the home; son, Grady C. Collier of Woodruff; two grandsons, Travis and Lucas Collier; and five great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Montie J. Collier.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Downtown Chapel, conducted by Rev. Mark Daniel and Rev. John M. Daniel. Burial will be in Old Stone Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary, 401 North Main Street, Anderson. The family is at the home.

O. O. HART, SR  

July 20, 1928 – June 2, 2010            
 
ANDERSON, SC - Mr. O’Quinn Otto Hart, Sr., age 81 of 323 Blue Ridge Circle, Belton, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at his home.
 
A native of Hart County, GA, Mr. Hart was the youngest son of the late Otto Hart and Mabel Carey Hart.  He retired from local textiles and was a proud veteran of the United States Army, 82nd Airborne Division, serving in Italy. He was a former captain with Broadway Fire Department and an active member of Eureka Baptist Church, serving as president of the Senior Men’s Sunday School class.  He loved his family, Jesus, fishing, his garden and all his buddies.
 
Mr. Hart is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lalage Jo Whitehead Hart; children; O.O. Hart, Jr., and Deborah, Debbie James and Bobby, Ledia Kahler and Scott, Cindy Hart and Gary, Karen Coe and Jerry; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dortheo Caudell of Dewey Rose, GA, Willie Belle Baskins and Vidella Bennett of Canon, GA.
 
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sons, Micheal Carey Hart and David Simeon Hart; brothers, Woodrow, Belton, J. W., and Wendell Hart and a sister, Macie Hill.
 
The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Eureka Baptist Church with Dr. Ron Fousek and Rev. Robert Dickard officiating.  Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and the Senior Men’s Sunday School class of Eureka Baptist Church as honorary pallbearers.  Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial park.
 
The family is at the home and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday, June 4, 2010 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.  Mr. Hart will be placed in the church at 1:00 pm on Saturday.

ANDERSON, SC - Della Tollison Carnes, age 93, of Anderson, widow of Henry K. Carnes, died Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Ellenburg Nursing Center.

Born in Anderson County, SC on September 27, 1916, Mrs. Carnes was a daughter of the late William Terry Tollison and Annie Davis Tollison.  She was a member of Belmont Church of God of Prophecy and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her sons, William Carnes and his wife, Carol of Sylmar, CA and Wayne Carnes of Anderson, SC; daughters, Linda Landrith of Pendleton, SC, Shirley Junkins and her husband, Butch, and Willie Mae Vickery, all of Anderson, SC; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by daughters, Betty Carnes and Pat Giles; three grandsons; one granddaughter; brothers, Truman and Edward Tollison and a sister, Corrie Morgan.

The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 4, 2010 at 11:00 am at Belmont Church of God of Prophecy officiated by the Reverend Alan Rhodes and Reverend Steve Silvey.  Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

SHIRLEY ELLIS

JULY 12. 1918- MAY 30, 2010 

ANDERSON, SC - Shirley Rose Long Ellis, age 91, of 103 Kudzu Road, wife of the late Ray Thomas Ellis, passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2010, at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born on July 12, 1918, in Anaconda, Montana, she was the daughter of the late George Long and Rose Altman Long.  She was raised in Ely, Nevada, and then moved to Orange County California, where she worked for the Saint Joseph Hospital. She moved to Anderson in 1995, she was a member of Saint Mary of the Angel’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include her son, Mike Ellis and his wife Maryann, of Hartwell, GA., two daughters; Pat Cohrac, of Anderson, and Rae Marie Ellis, of Dyer, Nevada, two grandchildren; Jeffery Ellis and Tonya Rees both of Atlanta.

A Funeral Mass with be held at Saint Mary of the Angel’s Catholic Church, on Saturday, June 5, 2010, at 2:00 pm conducted by Father Aubrey McNeil, OFM.

The family will be at the residence and will receive friends following the service.

MARTHA ROWLAND SMITH

ANDERSON – Martha Rowland Smith, age 87, went to be with the Lord on May 30, 2010. She was born on July 27, 1922 in Laurens. 

She is survived by her daughter, Cathey Cartledge and her husband, Bill of Tulsa, OK; her granddaughter, Allison Cartledge of Tallahassee, FL; her grandson, Christopher Cartledge of Tulsa, OK; and her sister, Sara Roll of Surfside. 

Martha was a longtime resident of Anderson and the owner of Martha’s Hair Fashions. She served on the National Hair Fashion Committee for a number of years, traveling nationally to train others in hair fashion trends. She was recognized by “Who’s Who” in South Carolina in 1974 as one of the state’s distinguished individuals. Throughout her professional career, Martha continued to study under the direction of the leading hairstylists in the world.

Martha was a member of Christ Reformed Church of the Carolinas.

The family is at the home of a niece, Mikie Cole, 136 Buckland Drive, 864-225-7080, in Rivendell Subdivision. The memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel, 3205 North Highway 81, Anderson. The family will receive friends following the service.
