Donnie Lynn Martin of North Port, Florida died suddenly Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at his residence.

Donnie was born July 23, 1948 in Belton, South Carolina. He graduated from Belton-Honea Path High School in 1967. Donnie was a Vietnam veteran of the United States Air Force serving from 1968 to 1976. After his military career Donnie obtained an Associate degree in HVAC from Tri-County Technical College in Anderson, SC and spent a long career as an HVAC Industrial Mechanic. When he retired Donnie had many hobbies he enjoyed. His first love was a lifelong affair with fishing/boating. He enjoyed cooking and he had a green thumb that he inherited from his mother – he could grow just about anything. Don enjoyed many other hobbies: listening to music, camping, football, and watching NASCAR.

Donnie is survived by his beloved wife, Cleo Leyck Martin of the home, his children Donnie L. Martin, Jr. (Kimberley) of Columbia, SC, Melissa M. Dahlgren (Rodny) of Lexington, SC, Dennis R. Hensley II (Christie) of Daniel Island, SC, Ryan L. Hensley (Cassi) of Huntersville, NC and Dana H. Quarles (John) of Columbia, SC; seven grandchildren; a sister Carol M. Church (Randy), brother Eddy D. Martin both of Belton, SC and another sister B. Cheryll Martin of Murrells Inlet, SC. He was preceded in death by his parents Calvin L. Martin and Ruby H. Martin of Belton, SC.

A military service will be held at 3:00pm on ­­­­­­­­­­March 23, 2017 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, SC.
