Anderson, SC - John Robert Bernhardt, husband of Janice Tinsley Bernhardt, passed away Monday, March 14, 2016 at Rainey Hospice House. 

Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late John Sullivan and Helen Cecil Bernhardt. He worked in his family owned business, Parts & Supply Auto Store, for many years and later as a Realtor with Keller Williams. Mr. Bernhardt was an avid runner and was a founding member of the Anderson Roadrunners. He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church and attended NewSpring Church. 

Survivors include his wife, Janice; son, Chad Bernhardt; daughter, Molly Bernhardt Woods and husband, Kevin; two grandchildren, Abby and Owen Woods; two sisters, Jean Vaughn and husband, Gus and Betty Ashworth, all of Anderson; several nieces and nephews and his pet, “Miss Ellie”. 

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2016, at Sullivan-King Mortuary Chapel conducted by Dr. L. Thomas Richie. The family will receive friends at the mortuary following the service. A family burial was held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Freedom Fences, P.O. Box 2322, Anderson, SC 29622, to honor his love for animals, or to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
