Dorothy Louise Tate McMillan of Panama City Beach, Florida, died Monday, March 21, 2016, at Community Health and Rehabilitation Center in Panama City, Florida.

Dot was born in Iva, South Carolina and was a 1944 graduate of Girls’ High School in Anderson, South Carolina.  She was the daughter of the late Ruth Cleo Eisenman and Curtis Leon Tate. Her husband, Lonnie Malcolm McMillan, Jr., and her sister, Miriam Victorine Tate Plotnik, predeceased her.   Surviving are her sister, Frances Cynthia Tate Presher of Columbia, South Carolina, and her nieces, Cynthia, Cassandra, Emily Kathleen, and Anna Serena.  

For many years, Dot worked for the United States Naval Oceanographic Office in Suitland, Maryland, and the Naval Command Oceanography at Stennis Space Center in Mississippi.  After retiring to Panama City Beach, Florida, she became very involved in the Regency Towers Condominium Owners’ Association and in Bay County Council matters.  She was a lifelong Baptist, a member of First Baptist Church of Panama City, and she began a weekly winter Bible study at Regency Towers that is still active.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, at Old Silver Brook Cemetery in Anderson, South Carolina.  A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 2, at 2:00 p.m. at Regency Towers Condominium, 5801 Thomas Drive, Panama City Beach, Florida.
