Anderson, SC - Montez Smith McCombs, 84, widow of Arthur McCombs, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at the Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Lavonia, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Joe J. and Gladys Smith. She was a former beautician and later worked as a sales associate at Garrett’s Department Store and Centerville Dress Shop. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was a choir member for many years and also served on the Kitchen Committee. She was a former member of Forest Hill Baptist Church where she served on the Building Committee.
Survivors include three sons, Philip A. McCombs (Becky), Jimmy R. McCombs (Donna), and David A. McCombs; five grandchildren, Dr. Jonathan W. McCombs (Christina), Amanda M. Miller (Rich), P. Jared McCombs (Mary), Emily Rogers (Devin) and Olivia McCombs; and four great grandchildren, Avrey T. McCombs, Chase A. McCombs, Wesley Day and Tye A. Miller
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Randolph Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church conducted by Dr. James R. Thomason, Rev. Josh Hunt and Dr. Jonathan McCombs. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. Saturday at Sullivan-King Mortuary. The family is at the home of Jimmy and Donna McCombs, 114 Towne Creek Trail, Anderson.
