Anderson, SC - Margaret Bracken Hayes, 91, widow of Carl Howard Hayes, died Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Summit Place of Anderson.
Born October 3, 1923 in Williamston, she was the daughter of the late Henry Jackson and Agnes Lucille Hale Bracken. She was a graduate of Anderson College. Mrs. Hayes was an artist and published writer and was a member of the Foothills Writers Guild. She was a volunteer at Anderson Hospital for 23 years. Mrs. Hayes was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca H. Ramsay and husband, James of Laurens; grandson, Reid A. Ramsay of Atlanta, GA; granddaughter, Caroline R. Krueger and husband, Jon of Dacula, GA; great granddaughter, Hannah C. Krueger; three brothers, James S. Bracken of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Richard H. Bracken of Easley, and Joe M. Bracken of Greenville; and one sister, Mabel B. Hawkins of Pendleton.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathryn H. Gilreath; two brothers, Charles H. Bracken and Robert E. Bracken and a sister, Lily B. Lenderman.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church conducted by Pastor J. Chris Fischer. Burial will follow in New Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday at Sullivan-King Mortuary.
