Anderson, SC - Richard Lanier Yarborough, resident of Summit Court in Anderson, SC, died at home on January 8, 2015.

He was born 19 Nov 1923 in Birmingham, AL and he was the son of the late Richard and Lapsley Yarborough of Birmingham. He was a retired US Army Major and a veteran of WW II and Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his wife Minnie Lee Sons Yarborough. He was the last member of his immediate family. Served during World War II in Europe with 106th Inf Div and with 24th and 40th Inf Divs during Korean Conflict. Following his military service of 23 years, he worked and retired from both Prudential Ins, Jacksonville, FL and Regiel Textile, Greenville, SC. He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church and Military organizations include Military Officers of America, 21st RCT Assoc.

He is survived by two daughters, Patsy B. Peppers and husband, Walter of Lawrenceville, GA, Cathy B. Appner and husband, Mitchell of Burnsville, NC; and a son, Edward R. Brazell and his wife, Brenda of Irmo, SC; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

No local services will be held, private interment will be at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery, Anderson, SC.

He was a loving husband and father and will be missed by all that knew him. Resting now in Heaven with Jesus.
