Anderson, SC - William Albert McClain, 87, husband of the late Helen Williams McClain, went to be with his Heavenly Father on November 24, 2014.

Born August 18, 1927 in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Calvin Earle and Oria Bolt McClain. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Mr. McClain was a farmer and owner and operator of McClain and Sons Builders. He and his wife, Helen enjoyed traveling with church groups doing mission construction. He was a member of the Home Builders Association. He was a lifelong member of New Prospect Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon and was a member of the John McLees Sunday School Class 

Survivors include two daughters, Diane Hall of Lincolnton, NC and Peggy Crawford (John) of Pendleton; two sons, Al McClain (Karen) and Ricky McClain (Janet), of Anderson; six grandchildren, Brian Hall (Lynette) of Bessemer City, NC, Chris McClain, Jason McClain (Jill), Whitney Henderson (BJ), Clay McClain and Justin McClain, all of Anderson; five great grandchildren, Kyleigh, Kaymin and Krayton Henderson of Anderson, Tori and Peyton Hall of Bessemer City, NC; three sisters, Deree Dickerson of Anderson, Selwyn Tingen of Piedmont and Oria Balchin of Graham, NC; a sister-in-law, Betty Cathey of Anderson; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, George, Calvin, David, Robert and Bevan McClain; and three sisters, Dorothy Ruth Busby, Kathryn Sorrow and Olga Sain. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at New Prospect Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Tony Smith and Rev. Tom Turner. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:15 p.m. Friday at the church. The family is at the residence. 

The family would like to thank the staff of NHC and Hospice of the Upstate for their tender loving care of their father. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
