Williamston, SC - Anna Emmaline Griffith Porter, 93, of Highway 81 North, widow of Clarence "Jim" Porter, died Wednesday, October 29, 2014.

Born September 27, 1921 in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Henry Anderson and Lillie Mae Gaillard Griffith. Mrs. Porter graduated from Anderson Girls High School, Erskine College, and Anderson College.  She was a retired school teacher, teaching at Calhoun and Concord Elementary Schools over a span of 38 years. Mrs. Porter continued to educate children even after retirement, receiving the United Way Service to the Child Award, as well as, the Palmetto Serves Volunteer Award.  She was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church for 65 years.  Mrs. Porter enjoyed traveling the world with Good News Travels, ballroom dancing, clogging, and square dancing. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.   

Survivors include her grandchildren, Elizabeth Starkweather and husband, Tommy of Naples, Florida, Mark Ridgeway, Jr. of Lunenburg, Massachusetts, and Susan Nunamaker and husband, Troy of Seneca; brother, William Griffith of Florence; son-in-law, Mark Ridgeway, Sr. of Anderson; and several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Emily Ridgeway; brother, H.A. Griffith; and sisters, Margaret Hunter and Grace Stegall.

Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Chad Campbell. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 until 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, 101 Pisgah Road, Easley, SC 29642.
