Sandy Springs, SC - David "Dave" Eskew Craig, 81, of Sandy Springs, died Tuesday January 28, 2014 at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late John Marcus and Nellie Eskew Craig. He was a 1954 graduate of Clemson College with a Bachelor's Degree in agricultural engineering and a graduate of the University of Illinois in 1963 with a Bachelor's Degree in aeronautical engineering. He was a retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel and was a veteran of Vietnam. While there, as a forward air controller, he received numerous military honors, including the Silver Star. After his 23-year career in the Air Force, he later retired from Michelin. He was a member of Barnett Masonic Lodge #106 AFM. Mr. Craig had a lifelong love of flying, both as a private pilot and in his 23-year career in the Air Force.

Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Alice Lucas Craig of the home; daughter, Donna Craig Gouch and husband, John of Anderson; two grandsons, Stephen Carroll and his wife Elizabeth and Christopher James Carroll all of Sandy Springs; three great granddaughters, Mollie Catherine, Natalie and Aniston Carroll; sister, Martha Craig Ligon of Sandy Springs; and numerous relatives and close friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David Evan Craig.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church, Sandy Springs, SC with Revs. Lindsay Hatch and W. Mark George officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at Sullivan-King Mortuary, 3205 Hwy 81 North, Anderson, SC.
