William Eugene “Shorty” Collins, age 80, of 319 Whitehall Road, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2013, at his residence, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Walhalla, SC, he was the son of the late 
Oscar C. Collins and the late Myra Reid Collins. For over 58 years, he was the loving and devoted husband of Audrey Smith Collins of the home.
Mr. Collins proudly served his country in the US Army. He was a retired service supervisor with Wometco Vending Company. Shorty was an avid golfer and loved outdoor activities including fishing on Lake Hartwell. He was of the Baptist Faith.
In addition to his wife, Audrey, he is survived by a son, Stanley E. Collins and his wife, Cindy, of Powdersville; a daughter, Sharon Collins Collier of Anderson; a brother, Gennar Collins of Anderson; 4 grandchildren, Katrina Ebernickle, Kristin Gorrell, Aaron Collins and Sean Collins. Also surviving are 4 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Collins was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
A Graveside Service to honor and celebrate the life of William E. Collins will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at 3 PM, at the Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Richard Burgess officiating. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 5, 2013, from 12 Noon until 2 PM.
