January 7, 1940 – April 7, 2013 

ANDERSON, SC - Rufus Franklin Tippins, age 73, of Anderson, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2013, at his residence.

Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Clyde Furman Tippins and the late Hattie Hunnicut Tippins Bleckley.  He retired from LaFrance Mill after many years of service.  He loved to work outside and was an avid gardener.  He was of the holiness faith. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Cleo Ford Pierce Tippins, of the home; a son, Larry Franklin Tippins of the home; a special girl in his life, Linda Kim McEntire; five step-sons, Steven, Randy, Scott and Bobby Pierce, all of Anderson and Ronald Pierce of New Mexico; two brothers, Clyde Tippins and his wife Judy of Easley and Thomas Bleckley and his wife Vickie of Dewey Rose, GA; two sisters, Polly Pierson of Hartwell, GA and Jeanette Stukes of Iva; a brother-in-law, Harold Anderson of Anderson; a sister-in-law, Betty Tippins of NC; 14 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Robert Bleckley; step-mother, Sara Tippins; two brothers, Fred and Furman Tippins; and two sisters, Minnie Tippins and JoAnn Anderson. 

The Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Harrell officiating.  Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The visitation took place on Monday, April 8, 2013 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
