SANDY SPRINGS – Lewis McEntire, age 84, of Sandy Springs, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born June 25, 1928 in Cornelia, GA, he was the son of the late John Rolan and Janie Smith McEntire. He was a retired employee of J.P. Stevens in Clemson with 36 years service. Mr. McEntire was a member of LaFrance Church of God for 62 years. He faithfully served as Sunday School secretary for 50 years.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 65 years, Vernell Simmons McEntire of the home; one daughter, Landra McEntire Woody and husband, Steve; two grandchildren, Amanda Woody Bryant and husband, Chris, and Eric Woody and wife, Jennifer. The pride of his life were his great grandchildren, Cassidy Bryant, Parker Bryant, and Malachi Woody. He is also survived by a sister, Rennie Tumblin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Reeves McEntire, Lemual Burton, Henry McEntire, and Claude McEntire and four sisters, Myrtle Addis, Daisy Addison, Edith Brewer, and Burchess Gerning.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at LaFrance Church of God conducted by Rev. Robert Ayers, Rev. James Shealy, and Rev. Billy Bowman. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1 until 1:50 p.m. Saturday at the church. The family is at the residence.
