SYBIL C. MARTIN

ANDERSON - Sybil Campbell Martin, 92, of Anderson, widow of William Twyman Martin, Jr., died Thursday, July 26, 2012 at her home.

Born May 3, 1920 in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Ervin Ucal and Nettie Hembree Campbell. She was a graduate of Anderson College, Central Wesleyan College and received her Master's Degree from Clemson University. Mrs. Martin was a retired elementary school educator. She was a volunteer for the Anderson Literacy Association for a number of years and AnMed Health Medical Center for over 20 years. She made three mission trips to Honduras and was a member of Concord Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School at Lebanon Baptist Church and Concord Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sons, Bill Martin and wife, Jean of Greenwood, Bob Martin and wife, Shirley and Barry Campbell Martin of Anderson; her daughter, Betsy Arflin and husband, Roger of Anderson; eight grandchildren, Stacy, Bill, April, Jeffrey, Matt, T.J., Marti, and Jennifer; five great grandchildren, Jayden, Nate, Trinity, Gabe, and Josie; and her sister, Martha Campbell of Anderson.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Larry, Carroll, and Johnny Campbell and two sisters, Nell Bolt and Annie Laura Gerrard.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Old Silver Brook Cemetery conducted by Rev. Bob Marcaurelle, Rev. Randy Blank, and Rev. Harry Warren. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel, 3205 North Highway 81, Anderson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Concord Baptist Church, 1012 Concord Road, Anderson, SC 29621 or Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
