DAVE MORRISSEY

June 23, 1939 – March 6, 2012

ANDERSON, SC - Joseph David Morrissey, age 72, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at his home.

Born in Bethlehem, PA, Dave was a graduate of Valley Forge Military School and Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA. He served 5 years as a Marine Corps Aviator receiving the rank of Captain.  He was an airline pilot for TWA retiring after 30 years of service. He was the founding person for the Marine Corps League in Anderson, SC. He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Kay; his children: Kristin, Scott and his wife, Tamara, Ginger and her husband, Rob, and Tim and his wife, Katherine; brother, Jim; grandchildren:  Brittany, Blake, Ali, Tyler, Jackson, Tess, Reed, Jacob, Dallas, and Michael; and a great-granddaughter, Jaelynn Kay. 

He was predeceased by his parents, Eugene James Morrissey, Sr. and Flora Elizabeth Johnson Morrissey, and a brother, Mike.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at 10:00 am at St. John’s United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dan Batson officiating.  A Committal Service will be held at MJ “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery on Monday, March 12, 2012, with Military Honors provided by the Upstate Veterans Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church Heritage Fund, 515 South McDuffie Street, Anderson, SC 29621.
