Herbert Edgar Phillips

May 8, 1921 – March 6, 2012

ANDERSON, SC - Herbert Edgar Phillips, age 90, of 127 Brittania Circle and husband of the late Evelyn Tinsley Phillips, passed away on March 6, 2012, at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Greenville County, SC, Herbert was a graduate of Boys High School, Anderson, SC.  He retired from Spring Industries/Wamsutta Mill.  He was a member of Concord Baptist Church and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

He is survived by his son, Herbert Phillips, III; daughters, Nancy Hawkins and her husband, Terry, and Vivian Boozer, and her husband, Butch, all of Anderson; and 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel on Thursday, March 8, 2012, at 11:00 am, officiated by the Reverend Dr. Don Cox and the Reverend Randy Blank.  Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

The family will be at the home of a daughter, Nancy, 1410 Crestview Road, Anderson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Concord Baptist Church Building Fund, 1012 Concord Road, Anderson, SC 29621, or Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
