CHARLOTTE, NC - Marie O. Robinson, age 92, of 11230 Ballantyne Trace Court, died at Lavine and Dickson Hospice House Wednesday morning at 10:30, following several weeks of declining health.
She founded Coach House Antiques in 1975 and developed a passion for English imports. She loved all the people who visited her shop whether they were regulars or just one-time visitors.
She touched the lives of so many people throughout her life. She was very involved at her church, Holy Trinity Lutheran, where she was the first woman elected to council. She also taught Sunday School and was a member of the church choir.
A native of Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late Percy Cummings Osteen, Sr., and Hattie Fant Osteen. She was a music major at Converse College.
She was an outstanding mother to her two daughters, Rosalie and Melanie. She devoted her free time to gardening, bird watching, and enjoying the many pursuits of her daughters.
As a resident of Legacy Heights in Charlotte for the past five years, she became very involved in her new community. She was on the Resident’s Council, the Welcoming Committee, and also participated in the Bridge Club and was a member of the Red Hat Group. She leaves behind many dear friends from Legacy Heights.
She was predeceased by her parents and her loving husband, D. Hunter Robinson.
Survivors include her daughters, Melanie R. Werth and Rosalie Robinson O’Rourke and Rosalie’s husband, Jamie Sean O’Rourke, grandchildren, Audrey Hunter Werth, Caroline Marie Hayes, D. Allen Hayes, Jr., and brother, Bill Osteen, of Anderson, SC.
Graveside Services will be held Saturday, March 17, 2012, at 10:00 am at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, officiated by Dr. Scott Suskovic. The family will receive friends at 11:00 at The McDougald Family Center.
