PATRICIA J LEIGH

September 4, 1935 – February 25, 2012

Patricia J. Leigh, of 1103 Cherokee Road, Townville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 25, 2012, at her residence.  

Mrs. Leigh was born in Somers Point, N.J. and was a daughter of the late Waldo Emerson Caven and Malissa Jane Bryant Caven.   She was graduated by Bucknell University majoring in Biology and Education and was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority.  During the time she lived in Huntington, West Virginia, she was a volunteer at St. Mary’s Hospital, a docent for the Huntington Museum of Arts, a leader of the Campfire Girls of America, taught an afterschool enrichment program, and sang in the Marshall University Choral Union.   She was an active member at Grace Episcopal Church where she sang in the adult choir.  She served on the Board of Directors of the ECW in the Diocese of West Virginia, the Diocese of Kentucky, and the Diocese of Upstate South Carolina.   She was an avid gardener, loved nature museums, quilting, sewing and music.  

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Philip George Leigh; children, Philip J. Leigh, Steven E. Leigh and his wife Demarie, Valerie Leigh Larsen and her husband Brad, Karen E. Leigh, and Lorraine Leigh Lutton and her husband Andrew; 11 grandchildren, Philip Garrett, Devin, Mason, Ethan, Katherine, Olivia, Nicholas, William, Alexandra, Cameron, and Matthew; sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Leigh, Judy Caven, and Barbara Earle and her husband Robert; and a special friend, Essie Wardlow. 

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother; Dr. Robert Emerson Caven and her brother-in-law, Richard Earl Leigh.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, February 28, 2012, at 2 PM, at Grace Episcopal Church with the Reverend Jack Hardaway officiating. The Committal Service will follow in the Church Memorial Garden.  The family will receive friends following the service in the Church Parlor.
