AUGUST 8, 1928 - JANUARY 7, 2012
ANDERSON, SC – James Lamar Robinson, Sr., age 83, husband of Frances Shaw Mackey Robinson, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Liberty, SC, he was a son of the late Claude E. Robinson and Geneva Hood Robinson.
He was a graduate of Keowee High School in Oconee County, served in the United States Army after World War II in Occupied Japan. Mr. Robinson lived in Greenville, SC for many years retiring from the Smith Transfer Trucking Company. He was a former member of the Roper Mountain Baptist Church, and the Walden Masonic Lodge. He has lived in Anderson for the past several years and was a member of the Eureka Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Martha Johnson and her husband, Randall of Walterboro, SC; son, Jimmy L. Robinson and his wife, Gina of Greenville, SC; step-daughter, Debbie Foster and her husband, Tom of Anderson, SC; step-son, Tony Mackey and his wife, Martha of Williamston, SC; sisters, Ruby Fletcher and her husband, Robert of Anderson, SC; Maude Forrester of Taylors, SC; and Juanita King and her husband, Don of Seneca, SC; several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Robinson was preceded by his first wife, Nellie Owens Robinson; brother, C. Edgar Robinson, Jr. and sisters: Winona R. Perry and Frances R. Peterson, step-sons: Richard Mackey and Steve Mackey.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at the Eureka Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Ron Fousek. Interment will follow at Graceland East Cemetery in Greenville, SC. Mr. Robinson will be placed in the church one hour prior to service.
The family is at the home and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Monday, January 9, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
