SANDY SPRINGS, SC – William Clayton Evans, age 78, of 6015 Clemson Boulevard, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2012.
Born May 22, 1933, in Fair Play, he was a son of the late Reece Clayton Evans and Nina Maebelle Black Evans. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and retired after twenty-five years from LaFrance Industries. Mr. Evans was an accomplished singer, songwriter, and musician.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Shirley Garland Evans; daughters: Kathy Evans Nimmons and husband, Jimmy, of Pendleton, SC, and Lisa Evans Walters of Sandy Springs, SC; daughter-in-law, Alison Evans of Pendleton, SC; grandchildren: Derek & Amy Nimmons, Morgan Walters, Clayton & Madison Evans; great grandchild, Riley Finn Nimmons; sisters: Frances Kelley of Anderson, SC, and Anna Belle English of Townville, SC; and brothers: Truman Evans of Townville, SC, and Talmadge Evans of Greenville, SC. He was predeceased by his parents; a son, Steve Clayton Evans; and a brother, Lewis Evans.
The Funeral Service will be held at 3pm on Monday, January 23, 2012, in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will follow in Oconee Memorial Park. The family is at the home and will receive friends at the funeral home from 4pm until 6pm on Sunday.
