Wilfred Livingston Webb

November 5, 1922 - January 12, 2012
ANDERSON, SC - Wilfred Livingston Webb, age 89, died at the Hospice of the Upstate on January 12, 2012.
Born November 5, 1922, in Anderson County, he was the eldest son of the late Wilfred Eugene Webb and Azalee Rampey Webb.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Ola Lee White Webb; daughter, Mary Lee Lollis of Anderson; grandson, Dusty Lollis of Greer; granddaughter, Breann Lollis Szmurlo and husband, Patrick, of Greenville. Also surviving are sisters, Evelyn Kay and Doris Cromer and brother, Fred Webb.
Mr. Webb was predeceased by one son, Randall Webb; son-in-law, Richard Lollis; brother, Edwin Webb and sisters, Theresa Webb and Thelma Webb Kuhn.
He was a graduate of Boys' High School and Tri-County Technical College, and worked at the Norfolk, VA Naval Shipyards before entering the military. He was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Army as Sergeant and Squad Leader of A Company 72nd Chemical Mortar Battalion in the Pacific Theater where he also studied at the University of Hawaii. He was a 5th generation of Webb men to serve in the Unites States Armed Forces during wartime.
He worked in textiles, home building as a finished carpenter and cabinet builder. He was passionate about his gardening and his horses.
A devoted member of New Prospect Baptist Church since 1957, he has served as deacon, Sunday School superintendent and teacher, R. A. leader and director, brotherhood director and chaired numerous committees in the church and even preached one Sunday.
The Funeral Service will be held at New Prospect Baptist Church at 3:00 pm on Sunday, January 15, 2012 with Dr. Tony Smith, Rev. Bill Ellison and Rev. Tom Turner officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be: Chad Cromer, Ed Webb, Tab Anderson, Phil Anderson, Gene White and Webb McClure. Honorary escort will be the members of the John McLees Sunday School Class. Burial will be held with Military Honors at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.
The family will be at the home and will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 1:30 pm until 3:00 pm.
