DECEMBER 23, 1945 – SEPTEMBER 22, 2010

ANDERSON, SC –Rosemary Harley Lindley, wife of Charles D. Lindley, was born in Anderson on December 23, 1945.  She died on September 22, 2010, at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, GA. 

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Lindley is survived by her daughter, Carrie Lindley Pruitt (John) and her son, James Harley Lindley (Tamara), and five grandchildren: Jackson Lindley, Walker Lindley, Mary Pruitt, Elizabeth Pruitt, and Sarah Grace Pruitt. 

Mrs. Lindley was predeceased by her father, Colonel James Hadley Harley; her mother, Jimmie Simpson Harley; and grandparents: Downey and Sudie Richardson Simpson and Peter W. Harley, Sr. and Carrie Harley. 

She graduated Burns Flat High School, Burns Flat, OK, and Oklahoma State University with a B.S. in Fashion Merchandising.  She later earned a teaching certificate through Clemson University.  Following a career in retail, she was an educator at McCants Middle School teaching social studies and language arts from 1985 until 1992 – having also served as department chair of the language arts department.

She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church; there she taught Sunday School, volunteered in Bible Schools, worked with youth programs, and was a member of the Koinonia Sunday School Class.  

Mrs. Lindley was an active member of the Anderson Community.  She was a member and served in various leadership capacities in the Anderson Junior Assembly, Anderson Womans Club, Anderson Cotillion Club, Anderson Debutante Club, and the Golden Girls Investment Club.  She was a twenty-year member of the The Anderson Garden Club where she served multiple years as President and other board positions. 

Since May of 2001, Mrs. Lindley served as a Commissioner on the Tri-County Technical College Commission. She represented the Board on the South Carolina Association of Technical College Commissions.  She was currently serving on the Building Committee and was instrumental in the establishment of the Colleges Gateway to College program.

The Funeral Service will be held at 2pm on Sunday, September 26, 2010, at Central Presbyterian Church, conducted by Dr. David J. Bailey and Dr. John LeHeup.  A committal service will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family is at the home, 125 Fieldstone Way, and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home from 4pm until 6pm on Saturday.

The family respectfully requests that flowers be omitted and memorials be made to the Tri-County Technical College Foundation, Post Office Box 587, Pendleton, SC 29670, or to Central Presbyterian Church, 1404 North Boulevard, Anderson, SC 29621.
