Born in Rabun County, GA, on April 16, 1919, he was a son of the late Alex Patrick Edmonds and Texanna Taylor Edmonds.  He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II having served in Europe as well as three major battles under General Patton.  Reverend Edmonds was the Pastor of Old Hepsibah Baptist Church from 1952 until his health would not allow him to pastor in the Church anymore.  Because of his deep love of Christ, he was also able to minister to many through his radio broadcast ministries in Seneca & Anderson as well as his many Nursing Home ministries.

Survivors include his children: Tony Marvin Edmonds and wife, Ruth of Anderson; Jan Simpson and husband, Jimmy of Pendleton, and Judy Price of Seneca; his grandchildren: Greg Edmonds & Barry Edmonds; Brad Simpson, Stacy Simpson, & Chad Simpson; Robert Price, Shelley Brown, & Leah Price.  Fourteen great grandchildren also survive him.

He was twice married: first to the late Grace Cromer Edmonds; and secondly to the late Myrtle McCall Alexander Edmonds.  As the only surviving member of his immediate family he was preceded in death by his brothers & sisters: Marcus Edmonds, Johnny Edmonds, Dean Edmonds, Ira Edmonds, Jacky Edmonds, Winola Cater, Rachel Edmonds, and Martha Edmonds.

The Funeral Service will be held at 3 pm on Monday, March 8, 2010, at Old Hepsibah Baptist Church conducted by the Reverend Carl McGaha, the Reverend Delbert McCall, the Reverend Scott Owens, and the Reverend Robert Price. Interment, with Military Honors provided by Fort Gordon, will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park conducted by the Reverend Brian M. Goss.

The family is at the home of Tony & Ruth Edmonds, 604 Fairmont Road, and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home from 6pm until 8pm on Sunday, March 7, 2010.  Reverend Edmonds will be placed into the Church at 2pm on Monday.

A message of condolence may be sent to www.mcdougaldfuneralhome.com.
