ANDERSON, SC - Robbie Jo Hackett Southerland, age 81, wife of Ken Southerland, of 107 Aycock Drive, passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at her son’s residence.

Born July 6, 1928 in Mt. Holly, NC, Robbie Jo was a daughter to the late Joe F. Hackett and Fairy Martin Hackett.  She was a charter member of High Praises Church of God and retired from Singer/Ryobi Corp. after 25 years of service.  She was a fun-loving Christian who enjoyed playing practical jokes on her friends and family.

Survivors include her husband of the home; a son, Mark Kenneth Southerland, and his wife, Donna; her daughter, Kathy Marie Cooper, and her husband, Tim, all of Belton, SC; seven grandchildren, Amanda Elgin, Alyssa Elgin, Chelsea Bonifer, Justin Parnell, Rachel Cooper, Melissa Willis, and Morgan Southerland; nine great-grandchildren; and two brothers, James Huey Hackett of Belton, SC and Rufus V. Hackett of Anderson, SC.

She was predeceased by a son, John F. Tilley; daughter, Linda Faye Elgin; sister, Jimmie Lois Hackett; and brothers, George W. Hackett and Rudolph K. Hackett.

The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at 2:00 PM at The McDougald Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Chris Sustar and Mr. John Jenkins officiating.  Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will be at the home of Mark Southerland, 301 Griffin Road, Belton, SC and will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, March 15, 2010 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM.

Flowers are optional.  Memorials may be made to Interim Hospice 2001 E Greenville Street, Anderson, SC 29621.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to all the staff of Interim Hospice, for their loving and special care shown during Mrs. Southerland’s illness.
