ANDERSON- Johnson Benjamin Martin, Sr., 87, formerly of Pine Lane, died Friday February 12, 2010 at Richard Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.
Born March 3, 1922 in Anderson, he was the son of the late Chesley Wyatt and Savilla Newton
Martin. He was a United States Marine Corps Veteran having served during World War II and Korea. He was a retired dairy farmer and member of the Slabtown Mason Lodge #233. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church.
Surviving are his son, Johnson B. “Johnny” Martin, Jr. and his wife, Catherine of Liberty, daughters: Margaret M. Cothran and her husband, Jack of Anderson, and Laura Ann M. Needham and her husband, Tom of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Michael Tray Martin, Scott Cothran and Alex Needham; brother, Newton D. Martin, and sisters, Helen Martin and Ann Elizabeth Curry. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Swink Martin, and a brother, Conrad W. Martin.
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Sunday, February 14 at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel, with Rev. Royce Addis officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 PM prior to the service at the northeast chapel. The family is at the home of his daughter, Margaret Cothran, 210 Voyles Rd., Anderson.
