SENECA – Thomas Eugene Dobbins, 63, of 1137 Friendship Road, died Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at his residence.
Born August 13, 1947 in Townville, he was the son of the late Thomas L. and Mary Ann Creamer Dobbins. He was a graduate of Townville High School and Clemson University. He was an Agricultural Engineer with Greenville County Soil & Water Conservation District. Mr. Dobbins retired from Natural Resource Conservation Service with 38 years service. He was Assistant State Conservation Engineer and a Professional Engineer. Conservation was always a vital part of his life. He was active in 4-H and FFA Livestock projects. He and Nancy served as Foster Parents for 30 years, serving over 100 kids. Mr. Dobbins was a member of Hepsibah Baptist Church in Seneca and was a former member of Townville Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Director. He was committed to helping others in any way.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Sheriff Dobbins of the home; children, Melanie Birchmore and husband, Duane of Mountville, Jeff Dobbins and wife, Kim of Woodruff, Terry Dobbins and wife, Michelle of Greenville, Kasey Dobbins, Rita Haney, and Rose Dobbins, all of Seneca; ten grandchildren; sister, Mary Jane Dobbins of Townville; and three brothers, Don Dobbins and wife, Sandra of Statesboro, GA, Jim Dobbins and wife, Deborah of Atlanta, and Phil Dobbins of Greenville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Dobbins.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Hepsibah Baptist Church, Seneca, conducted by Rev. Jimmy Boggs. Burial will be in Townville Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the church. The family is at the residence.
