ANDERSON, SC - Joseph Daniel “Joey” Ramsey, 24, born in Anderson County, SC on Jan. 3, 1986, of 1200 Blue Heron Trail, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, October 08, 2010, at his home.

He is survived by his mother, Deborah J. Pearson and his step-father, Greg Pearson, of the home and his father, Charles D. Ramsey of Anderson; his four sisters, Kathleen Ramsey, Rebecca Pearson and Kaitlyn Pearson, of the home and Danna Jordan and her husband, Kevin Jordan of Anderson.  Also surviving are grandparents, Carl and Hilda Ginn; Charles A. and Barbara Ramsey, all of Anderson; and Lila Pearson of Williamston.  He is preceded in death by his grandfather, James E. Pearson of Williamston.

He will also be dearly missed by dozens of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins and practically anyone who was lucky enough to have known or met him. Joey attended Anderson School District 5 until the age of 18 when he then attended adult daycare in Anderson and was a former member of Salem Baptist Church.

Throughout his life, even with and maybe because of his disabilities, Joey was able to touch many people with his sweet smile and angelic face.  He was a true blessing to those that knew and loved him.  His presence here on earth will be greatly missed, but we know that in Heaven he will be made whole and his body will be made healthy and he will forever be looking down on us with that beautiful smile.

The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, October 10, 2010 from 2:30 pm until 3:30 pm, with a Memorial Service to follow at 4:00 pm in the Chapel, conducted by the Reverend Julien Crowe.

Memorials or donations may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621 or The Development Center for Exceptional Children (DCEC), 2000 N. Main Street, Anderson, SC 29621.
